Experience designer | U.S. Bank | 2022 to present

As an experience designer at U.S. Bank, I collaborated with designers, A11Y professionals and developers to create, document and maintain new design system components and experiences, and translate those experiences to the people who build them.

U.S. Bank Shield Design System

  • Contributed to building strategy and core principles for U.S. Bank Shield Design System.
  • Worked with a UX team to develop 20+ new web react components used in larger experiences for bank customers, and wrote design documentation for them (including form inputs, tables, buttons, calendar and date picker).
  • Contributed information architecture for Shield Zeroheight documentation site widely used by U.S. Bank employees and customers.
  • Migrated existing content into new internal Zeroheight site and edited for accuracy and structure.
  • Conducted qualitative research to understand developer needs, and planned information architecture for an internally used Storybook site for Shield Design system based on results.
  • Provided online design support for employees using the Shield design system.

U.S. Bank mobile app

  • Collaborated in a design sprint to design new dashboards for the U.S. Bank app.
  • Planned and participated in moderated user testing of initial dashboard designs, created developer annotations and documentation in Figma, consulted with legal and other stakeholders to ensure app content met business needs and legal requirements and coordinated with translation services to create Spanish app content.

Web Content Strategist | University of Minnesota, Duluth | 2017 to 2022

As UMD’s first web content strategist, I have supported the campus through two major CMS migrations, created engaging new content, established data-informed practices, and advocated for strategic and customer-centric content practices.

  • Wrote, edited and implemented a variety of content based on UMD’s content strategy, including short news summaries, web content for various audiences, usage guidelines, and technical documentation.
  • Planned and observed in usability sessions in order to understand the needs of our key audiences, and suggested and implemented changes to content based on observations.
  • Assisted stakeholders with their web content strategy and information architecture, completing content audits and advising on voice, tone and governance.
  • Worked with designers and marketing staff to write and implement website content in the University’s design system, including two subsequent versions of the content in UMD’s main navigation pages (About, Research, Admissions, Athletics and Campus Life pages.)
  • Provided writing and editorial support to stakeholders across campus, including marketing professionals, administrative staff and leadership.
  • Collected and analyzed site data in Google Analytics, Google Optimize and Moz to determine whether content was meeting objectives.
  • Acted as product owner and content specialist in UMD’s transition into the Drupal Content Management System and the Folwell Design system.

As a technician, I was responsible for making content used by customer support staff more accessible and useful.

  • Transcribed and edited two catalogs containing mechanical parts used in dishmachines and dispensers, improving accuracy of information. This included transferring part numbers, images and descriptions into a word template that will be available on Sharepoint in the future.
  • Entered images and data into a WordPress-powered equipment catalog to make the company’s sales process more efficient. Assigned callouts to images in WordPress based on engineering line drawings.
  • Gathered data in spreadsheets to track images and data missing from the equipment catalog.

Web Content Editor | University of Minnesota Medical School | August 2014 to May 2015

I provided web content support to four medical school departments (Anesthesiology, Laboratory Medicine & Pathology, Radiology, Radiation Oncology).

  • Edited web content in Drupal Content Management System according to requests from faculty and staff
  • Worked with a variety of professionals to improve the content of department websites, reprioritizing when needed based on communication from faculty and staff.
  • Gathered information and took photos to update faculty bios.
  • Edited web content in the CMS for readability.
  • Assisted with transitioning all web content from UMContent to Drupal.
